Description

The Legend of Kage, developed and published by Taito in 1985, is a nostalgic side-scrolling hack-and-slash game. Players control Kage, a young Iga ninja on a mission to rescue Princess Kiri from the evil warlord Yoshi and his samurai accomplice Yuki. The game is staged across a forest, secret passageway, fortress wall, and a castle, with each rescue changing the season from summer to fall to winter and back to summer. Kage is armed with a kodachi shortsword and an unlimited supply of shurikens. Notably, the game's music, composed by Hisayoshi Ogura, features a distinctive Japanese aesthetic, aligning seamlessly with the game's setting. Lauded for its fast-paced action and engaging gameplay, The Legend of Kage remains a beloved classic in the retro gaming community.
