Description
After Burner II is a retro arcade game that packs a punch of nostalgia and adrenaline. Released by Sega in October 1987, this combat flight simulator lets players soar through the skies in an F-14 Tomcat jet fighter. The game stands out with its unique blend of action and shooter elements, where players have to gun down enemies while adeptly avoiding incoming fire. After Burner II was available in both a standard arcade cabinet and a servo-actuated, sit-down motion simulator version, which brought a realistic edge to the gameplay. The game, an updated re-release of After Burner, introduced extra levels, new enemies, an enhanced soundtrack, and more disposable missiles to the series. The biggest addition, however, is the ability to manually control the speed of the aircraft. Despite being called After Burner, most home consoles and computer ports are based on the After Burner II version. The NES, Amiga, and Commodore 64 editions even offered two different ports with significant technical differences, adding more variety to the gaming experience.
