Description

"Final Lap takes you back to 1987, immersing you in an innovative racing experience that set new standards in the gaming world. Developed by Namco and released by Atari Games, this game has left an indelible mark on the history of arcade games. Featuring real Formula One cars of the 1987 season, players can choose between Williams-Honda, Lotus-Honda, McLaren-Porsche, or March-Cosworth. Final Lap was the first racing game to allow up to eight players to simultaneously race on the Suzuka Circuit. It was also considered a pioneer for introducing 'rubber banding' to keep the competition alive among less talented players. This concept was later expanded upon by games like Mario Kart. The game also allows for solo play with scores based on distance travelled until time runs out or upon completion of laps. The track is a faithful reproduction of the Suzuka Circuit, down to the sponsor billboards, offering a true-to-life racing experience. Final Lap has also spawned numerous sequels and spinoffs, expanding the racing universe for players worldwide.
