Description

"Enter the world of the 1992 Summer Olympics with Capcom's Gold Medal Challenge '92. This retro video game offers a unique, Olympic sports experience, featuring a variety of events that require strategic button mashing and precise timing. Players can select their country from a list including the U.S.A., China, Great Britain, and more, and compete against the CPU in events ranging from the 100-Meter Dash and Long Jump to the multi-part Marathon. Each sport involves pressing the A and B buttons in rhythm, with timing crucial for success. The game is noted for its ability to host up to 8 human competitors concurrently, though only two can play at a time. After each event, players are given the opportunity to adjust their runner's speed based on their condition and the distance left to the finish line. In addition to the main Olympiad, the game features a Training mode where all sports except the Marathon can be played individually. World records set by the player are saved on the battery-backed RAM for future challenges.

Game Controls

The game relies primarily on the A and B buttons, used rapidly or rhythmically depending on the event. Timing is key in every event, from sprints to jumps. The game also allows players to select and adjust their runner's speed in the Marathon event.
