Description

Jackal, also known as Top Gunner, is a captivating 1986 overhead run'n gun-style shoot-em-up game developed by Konami. As a player, you're part of the Jackal unit, an elite group of four soldiers including Colonel Decker, Lieutenant Bob, Sergeant Quint, and Corporal Grey. Your mission is to navigate your heavily armed jeep through hostile territories to rescue and extract POWs. The game allows two players to join simultaneously, with each player controlling their jeep. The jeep is equipped with a machine gun turret and a grenade launcher, which can be upgraded to a missile launcher for a more destructive impact. The game's unique continuous level structure takes you through various terrains, such as ancient ruins, a lake, a hill, and a mountain, before reaching the enemy headquarters. The background music changes as you progress, enhancing the gaming experience. The game ends when you complete your mission or run out of jeeps. Will you be able to rescue the POWs and defeat the enemy? Play Jackal today and find out!

Game Controls

Game controls for Jackal are simple. The NES version is controlled using a cross-shaped joypad and two action buttons. Use the D-pad to steer your jeep in eight directions. The A button launches grenades or fires the bazooka, while the B button fires the machine gun. You can select one or two-player mode, start your mission, or pause the game.
