Description
Step back in time with Spy Hunter, a classic arcade game developed and released by Bally Midway in 1983. This vertical scrolling action/driving game puts the player in the role of a spy driving a power-packed sportscar on a bustling freeway. Your mission? Destroy as many enemy vehicles as possible while safeguarding civilian vehicles. The game begins with you at the helm of the G-6155 Interceptor. You'll face a range of adversaries, from vehicles aiming to run you off the road to helicopters dropping bombs from above. Your defense includes not only your car's standard machine guns but also oil slicks, smoke screens, and surface-to-air missiles available via the Weapons Van. The challenge increases as you navigate different territories with varying terrain and weather conditions. Score points by destroying enemy vehicles, but beware - hitting civilian cars halts the score counter. In addition, your car can be destroyed by hard collisions or enemy weapons, making strategic gameplay essential.
Game Controls
The game's controls consist of a futuristic aircraft-style yoke with special-purpose buttons, a two-position stick shift, and a pedal for acceleration. Players can also summon the Weapons Van by pressing the blinking 'Weapons Van' button.
