Description

Full description:Rediscover The New Zealand Story, a captivating 1988 arcade game developed and published by Taito. In this immersive game, you control Tiki, a kiwi in sneakers, tasked to rescue his lover Phee Phee and other kiwi chick friends from the clutches of a large blue leopard seal. The game presents a scrolling maze-like level, each ending with the liberation of a caged kiwi chick friend. Echoing elements from previous Taito games, you can collect letters to spell 'EXTEND', similar to Bubble Bobble. Each level aims at guiding Tiki safely, dodging enemy fire, spikes, and rescuing a kiwi friend. The initial weaponry comprises arrows, which can progressively transform into bombs, lasers, or bouncing fireballs. The New Zealand Story stands out for its unique feature of riding on a variety of flying vehicles, including balloons, blimps, and UFOs, either found ready or stolen from enemies. With four main zones consisting of four rounds each, the fourth round concludes with a boss fight. Unearth the many secret areas and shortcuts hidden throughout the game through special hidden 'warp' portals. On certain levels, losing the last life to a projectile weapon sends the player to a special 'Heaven' round, offering a special ending or a secret route out of Heaven to continue the game.
