This game, known in Japan as Hyper Olympic, was an arcade sensation of its time. The gameplay, based on rapid button presses, led the way for sequels and other games in the genre. Despite its age, Track & Field continues to captivate players with its challenging events like 100 Meter Dash, Long Jump, Javelin Throw, 110 Meter Hurdles, Hammer Throw, and High Jump. The game can accommodate up to four players, creating a competitive and fun gaming environment. Its legacy as a classic sports arcade game is undeniable, and it remains a favorite among retro game enthusiasts.
Game Controls
The NES version of Track & Field is controlled via a cross-shaped joypad and two action buttons. The D-pad is used to initiate actions, and the A button is used to make the athlete run. The B button is used in Skeet Shoot and Archery events. The SELECT button on the title screen is used to select between a one or two player game and to select the desired sport discipline. The game can be paused and resumed using the START button.
