Description

The New Zealand Story is an engaging 1988 arcade game developed and published by Taito. The player takes on the role of Tiki, a brave and sneaker-wearing kiwi, who embarks on a daring mission to rescue his lover Phee Phee and several other kiwi chick friends from a menacing large blue leopard seal. The game stands out with its scrolling maze-like levels, each ending with a trapped kiwi chick to be released. Inspired by previous Taito games, The New Zealand Story also features power-ups and hidden 'warp' portals that lead to secret areas and shortcuts. The game's distinctiveness also lies in its innovative feature of letting the player ride various flying vehicles, from balloons and blimps to UFOs. As the player progresses through the four main zones, each with four rounds, they will encounter boss fights and special 'Heaven' rounds, offering a unique gaming experience.
